Productivity with technology

Technology made a great impact in our lives, negatively, and positively. Are we using it the right way? Misuse of technology could damage our health, time, and more.

I was doing a research lately on how we could control the time we spend on our mobile phones. So I asked my friends on how much time they spend on their phones. By using an iPhone, it has a built in feature called iPhone screen time function, while on android phones, some doesn’t have a built in feature, so you have to download an app, that will help us track the time and activities that we spent on our phones.

My friends responses were, 5, 6, and 7, compared to mine which is only 3 hours on daily average time spent with mobile phones, because I spend most of my time on my laptop. Some of us use our mobile phones in a positive way, but some aren’t. It was no surprise that most of us spent most of our time on phones, because of social media. According to www.theguardian.com, social media copies gambling methods to create psychological cravings so that we will never leave their sites or apps.

Mobile and PC games is one of the activities that kills most of our time. During my gaming days, it was heaven. I played more than 10 hours a day, I didn’t felt tired, and I just wanted to keep on playing until my mom scolded me to stop. Recently, I tried to play again, just want to remember the good old feeling of being young again. I said to myself that I’ll play for just a few games, ending up playing until early morn.

Playing mobile and PC games are highly addicting. The best way i did to get rid of my gaming habit was to delete the program permanently. Not all games are harmful, there are educational games that helps us positively.

On the 9th of February 1985, the first Terminator movie was released starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. The movie portrayed what robots are capable of doing, and it’s very terrifying.  Fast forward to this day, it’s the opposite. We learned to work with the machines.

If we hear the word “Robot” we visualize the terminator, a humanoid machine mimicking human actions, with life threatening intentions. In reality, robots were created to help humans. It may all not be on a humanoid form, but a machine that helps us make things more efficient and convenient.

From drones to megafactories, machines played a great role for making the job done. Robots are playing more roles during this coronavirus crises from disinfecting hospitals, bringing foods, and to by helping nurses to remotely monitor the health of their patients that are exposed to the disease.

Whether you are just using your mobile phones for educational purposes, communication, or just want to kill some time, to building robots, or helping alongside with robots, technology helps us to be more productive in so many ways. Let’s use technology positively in our lives.
